Gamma Phi Beta

Gamma Phi Beta's grow as individuals through academic excellence, leadership development, social enrichment, and philanthropic involvement. These lessons and experiences will be taken with you anywhere you want to go in life.

SCHOLARSHIP

Gamma Phi Beta is committed to a high level of academic achievement. Our organization has a scholarship program that provides incentives to members who meet our academic standards. As members of Gamma Phi Beta, we put academics first and we hold ourselves to high standards of academic excellence.

We host study exchanges with other members of the Greek community, which provides a positive atmosphere to further develop our scholarship efforts. To help support everyday academic achievements, our house offers two 24-hour quiet study rooms.

At the 2016 Gamma Phi Beta Convention, our chapter was awarded the Heard of Gold Award for raising over $30,000 for our endowment in honor of a sister, the Alumnae/Collegiate Relations Award, and Honorable Mention for the Overall Programming Excellence Award. We also took home the Frances E. Haven Award, one of the highest Gamma Phi Beta collegiate honors awarded at convention.

Kappa Chapter is one of nine Gamma Phi Beta Chapters to reach the Order of 1874 status for the 2017-18 academic year. Order of 1874 is the highest rating a chapter can receive on the Order of the Crescent. The Order of the Crescent is an annual evaluation of a variety of aspects of chapter life. Receiving a rating of Order of 1874 recognizes chapters as excellent in a variety of areas of chapter life including chapter operations, recruitment, finances, public relations, campus involvement, member education and risk reduction.
We are continually a chapter that is a part of the 1874 Society. The 1874 Society is a group of women and collegiate chapters that donate annual gifts of $1874 or more to the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation. We have been recognized in the 1874 society since 2014. You can find more information on what the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation does on the "Foundation" page of the website. We are also part of the One Heart Campaign meaning we have a scholarship endowment for our chapter.

LEADERSHIP

Gamma Phi Beta provides its members with the opportunity to serve as leaders within the chapter, within the Greek community, as well as within the University community.

Within the chapter, members are encouraged to hold leadership positions in one of six departments: membership, panhellenic affairs, education, public relations, and administration.

Holding positions within the chapter gives members the opportunity to give back to our organization, in addition to building life-long skills by learning from their experiences in the positions they hold.
